About us

The Centre for Biodiversity and Conservation Studies (CBCS) was established in the year 2019 as a Centre of Excellence of Osmania University under the MoE-RUSA 2.0 Project. As a dedicated hub for research, education, and outreach, CBCS works to enhance, document, and disseminate knowledge about the biodiversity of the state of Telangana. By combining field studies with tools such as molecular taxonomy and phylogenetics, our research aims to contribute to existing biodiversity knowledge and address long-standing knowledge gaps and questions. Equally central to our mission is the training of human resources through experiential learning, thereby equipping them with the skills needed for biodiversity documentation, monitoring and research.

Vision

Mission

To inspire and lead efforts in biodiversity research and capacity building by generating scientific knowledge, fostering collaboration and hands-on learning for the conservation of Telangana’s biodiversity.

The mission of the Centre is to enhance the use of rigorous scientific data to document the biodiversity of the Telangana State by creating a database, and training manpower to further this cause through workshops and other activities.

It is that range of biodiversity that we must care for – the whole thing – rather than just one or two stars.
